Supporting Writing with Technologies

This activity will give students experience in creating a word cloud using Wordle.

1.      Access Wordle at http://www.wordle.net

2.      You may first wish to examine some of the Wordle examples that have

been shared on the website.

3.      A word map can be created by pasting in other existing text or by entering text directly into Wordle’s text box. You might also ask students to brainstorm words or phrases to enter. For example, a Wordle word cloud about “meaningful learning” would draw on the concepts and ideas they have been studying. This word cloud would also illustrate how Wordle might be used as a tool for assessing student learning.  Other examples of Wordles can be found at: http://www.slideshare.net/JenniferW/wordle-ideas

5.         Save the word map to the Wordle Gallery.  Create a page in your Weebly site called Wordle.  Copy and paste the code at the bottom of the Wordle into your Weebly site page Wordle.   Also, add the code to the bottom of this page and submit this page to this dropbox.
