CREATING A VOICETHREAD

Begin by accessing the VoiceThread website at http://voicethread.com/ and clicking “Browse.”

Watch “What’s a VoiceThread”.

Next, use the resources below as needed to support students as they create their own VoiceThreads.

1) Create a VoiceThread account. Free accounts allow users to own up to three VoiceThreads at one time. An existing VoiceThread can be deleted to allow a new one to be created if the limit has been reached. There are also quite reasonably priced educator accounts that allow unlimited VoiceThreads as well as advanced options such as archival movie exporting. (See http://voicethread.com/products/)

2.      Next, you should identify an area of the curriculum for which they will develop a VoiceThread.

3.      Create a VoiceThread and share the VoiceThread.  Copy and paste the URL for your VoiceThread to the word document at the bottom. -> Not this document - the word document that is attached to the Blackboard Assignment!

 4. Embed your voicethread into a page on your Weebly site.  (see directions below for how to embed.)

In addition to the “What’s a VoiceThread” there are several other VoiceThreads explaining various features of the tool. Look for similar appearing screens in the “Browse” section. For example, this VoiceThread explains how to “mark up” or doodle as you make a comment on a VoiceThread.

The “About” section of VoiceThread explains its features.

The “Support” section provides manuals and step-by-step answers to “how to” questions. http://voicethread.com/support/
